here's lookin' at you kid
(the role of 'kid' played by china)
well this is it, my last night...i'm pretty tired and have been running around alot the past couple of days so i haven't really set still to let it all soak in, to think about it all and sum it up; i had dinner with the administrator who handled my program and the inevitable 'what did you think of china?' came up..there's no easy answer of course, but i think it is alot different than i thought; in some ways it is alot better, i mean for the most part you don't actively see people being oppressed by the government, they manage to keep it pretty well hidden (plus); but i've also heard alot that china is going to dominate the world stage soon because of the might of their 1.3 billion people; well the majority of those people are currently living in conditions that would make most americans cringe, and they don't seem to have any desire to change, no inkling of the world of materialism that is out there, so i don't know that they will dominate the world; though there are some pretty skyscrapers..(minus); but there is so much going on in the hearts and minds of the people here, it is really cool to see the purity with which they approach traditionally 'western' concepts since any background or concept of them has been withheld from them for some long {because of commies} (plus); other than that i had no idea the people would be so funny to watch (plus); well that's 3 pluses and one minus leaving the balance in favor of China (ding, ding) so i guess that's it, i'm glad i came...so it's off to paris tomorrow to reunite with my friend and helpful blogger bethany, so i guess you'll hear from me then, 7 hours closer to home as the time zones say. i'm out ~ 江世华
