i have yet to discuss in detail my week spent in the Traditional Chinese Medicine department of the hospital; I'll tell you straight up that I wasn't trying to 'learn' (i.e. remember) anything, i was just hoping to weasel my way into free Chinese medicine;...worked like a charm...here is a picture of my back after receiving the treatment of 'cupping' *; basically this consists of them suctioning glass bottles (kind of like an old milk bottle, but smaller) to your back by sticking a large open flame into the bottle (using up the oxygen) and then very quickly sticking it onto your back; the skin definitely sucks up into the bottle almost an inch so there is a good bit of suction; they leave it on for about 10 minutes and then take it off...treatment over; you may ask, 'what does this treat josh' well i'm sorry, but i don't know; to be honest Chinese medicine is pretty weird and is based on the fact that you have fire, wind, metal, and earth in your body that can get out of balance and cause problems. i was told that i had too much heat in my body (fire) and thus i have bad allergies; (which is also why the cup marks at the top of my back are so purple); finally, don't worry, there was no pain involved in this, despite how it might look...anyways, stay tuned...acupuncture pics to come!!
